MAVS TAKE 11TH AT COWBOY JAMBOREE

Cross country teams take two weeks off before Chili Pepper race

STILLWATER, Okla. - UT Arlington's cross country teams placed 11th at the OSU Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday.

The men's team tallied 289 points to finish 11th in the 17-team field.

Senior Jody Broccoli-Hickey finished 27th with a time of 25-minutes, 23-seconds over the 8,000-meter course.

Idilio Campos finished 56th with a 26:41, Ozie Hood was 62nd (26:56), freshman Jose Balleza took 69th place (27:19) and freshman Zack Zura was 75th with a 27:32.

Other UT Arlington runners include: freshman Heinz Schwartzkopf (95th/28:40) and Ivan Pinal (99th/28:50).

Host Oklahoma State upset fifth-ranked Arkansas and won the team title with 69 points. Individually, John Kosgei of South Plains College won with a 23:42.

In the women's division UTA scored 260 points for 11th of 18 teams.

Annabelle Everitt continues a strong freshman season with a 23rd-place finish with a time of 19:03. Senior Carranda Mose was 40th with a 19:32, senior transfer Magan Moore returned after missing the Texas A&M Invitational with a time of 19:39 for 45th place. Perri Ford was 71th with a 20:11 and Amanda McMahon was 81st with a 20:27. Freshman Esther Abuto finished 113th with a 21:53.

Missouri State won the team title with 58 points while South Plains' Lillian Bodaru won the race with a 17:15.

UT Arlington will have their final tune up before the conference meet at the Arkansas/Chili Pepper Invitational, Oct. 14, in Fayetteville, Ark. The Southland Conference Championship is Oct. 27 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
